Manual Stages & Others

Stage installation

Increase the plane precision of the components to be attached to the stage. Some stages cannot achieve its best performance when the attaching component does not have enough plane precision structurally. Explanation is omitted for products, of which mounting holes are visible.
X axis and XY axes stages
Operating section side installation type
Operating section center installation type
  1. Remove the micrometer head and confirm that the clamp screw is loose.
Check the X axis (lower axis) of the XY axis stage.
  2. The table returns strongly due to the spring force when the clamp screws are loosened. Please be careful.
  3. Move the table until the mounting holes appear. Insert the attached mounting screw and temporarily tighten the screws.
  4. Move the table to the opposite direction until the mounting holes appear. Insert the attached mounting screw and temporarily secure the screws.
  5. Move the table to the previous direction and tighten the temporarily tightened screws.
On some stages, mounting holes appear only when the clamp screws, micro table, and micro support are removed.

If the mounting holes do not appear, remove the stage.
If the micrometer head is attached at the center of the stage, remove the micro table.

If the micrometer head is attached at the side of the stage, remove the micro support.

Attach the stage, and then, attach the micro table and the micro support. When attaching the micro table and the micro support, pay attention as they become parallel or perpendicular to the stage body.

Even they are not precisely parallel or perpendicular, the stage precision does not receive adverse effects.
Rotary (rotation) stage
  1. On the table surface, there are holes for the mounting screws, other than the mounting holes.
Confirm that it is not clamped.
  2. Turn the table as the hole for the mounting screw matches to the mounting hole. Insert the mounting screw and temporarily tighten the screw. Repeat this procedure to all mounting holes.
  3. Turn the table as the locations of holes for the mounting screws match to the mounting holes. Tighten the temporarily tightened mounting screws.
Goniometer stages
  1. Confirm that the clamp screws are loose. Move the table with a handle until the mounting holes appear. Insert the attached mounting screws and temporarily tighten the screws.
  2. Move the table to the opposite direction with the handle until the mounting holes appear. Insert the attached mounting screws and temporarily tighten the screws.
  3. Move the table to the previous direction and tighten the temporarily tightened screws.

How to install the stage precisely

Installation method that uses the dial gauge (recommended method)
Install the stage as the dial gauge displacement becomes the minimum, by taking the following procedure. While installation, measure the parallelism of the stage movement to the standard surface set by the customer near the stage installation location, by moving the stage to the arrow direction with the dial gauge.
Simple installation method which stage processing surface is used
The high grade stage has the process standard surface as shown in the following drawing.

When installing the stage, attach this process standard surface to the standard surface and standard pin at the location, where the stage is installed. In this way, installation is available by adjusting the parallelism easily.

Precautions for installation of jigs and components to the stage

Pay attention to the plane precision of the component to be attached to the stage.

Some stages cannot achieve its best performance when the attaching component does not have enough plane precision and gives adverse effect to the stage.

While attaching components to the stage, hold the table with your hands. When the transfer guide is overloaded at the level exceeding the allowable range, the guide is hurt and the precision decreases. It is recommended to install the component to the stage first, and then install the stage.

Operating environment

When using the manual stage, pay attention to the operating environment. Use the system in the environment of the following ranges. Avoid any place with extremely high or low temperature, with a large temperature fluctuation, and with a huge amount of dust.

Temperature: 10 - 40°C
Humidity: 20 - 80%RH
